Elect
Christine Parlamis
for Glen Rock Board of Education
Honor Every Child
About Me
➤ As a longtime Glen Rock resident, I’m dedicated to ensuring every student has access to a safe, inclusive, and high-quality education. My husband and I moved to Glen Rock in 2003 for the strong school system and have raised our four children here: two have graduated, one is in 10th grade and one in 7th grade.
➤ I have been involved as a town softball coach, pitching clinics, a former board member of the Glen Rock Baseball and Softball Association, a class parent, and a past volunteer college interview advisor.
➤ For more than a decade, I volunteered with an orphanage and school in Guatemala. Over the course of 14 trips, I became deeply connected to the children, even becoming Godmother to one. Many had significant learning challenges, yet with caring teachers and role models, every child could flourish. Students thrive when supported academically, emotionally, and socially.
➤ I worked in digital marketing with American Express and SBC Communications. For the past 19 years, I’ve been a self-employed entrepreneur, running an e-commerce business. I hold a BA in Economics from Columbia University and an MBA from the University of Michigan.
➤ I joined the Board of Education last year in October 2024 to fill a vacant seat. I’ve worked actively. I am not shy to speak up. I listen with an open mind. I’m committed to fostering respectful communication and to making fiscally responsible decisions. If elected, I will work tirelessly to keep Glen Rock schools strong now and for the future.

My Priorities
Achieving Academic Excellence – Academic excellence goes beyond test scores—it’s about preparing every student for college, career, and life through a well-rounded curriculum, advanced coursework, enrichment opportunities, strong Special Services, and essential skills like problem-solving, collaboration, and digital literacy.
Ensuring Fiscal Responsibility – I’m committed to high-quality education while being a careful steward of our taxpayer dollars. With funding tightening, we must make smart, transparent budget decisions that prioritize students. My background in Economics and Business equips me to maximize resources and keep our schools strong.
Retaining Top Teaching Talent – Teachers are the heart of our schools, and keeping the best educators is key to academic excellence. I will support competitive pay, strong professional development, and a positive environment that values teacher input and innovation.
Advocating for All Students – Every child deserves the resources, support, and challenge they need to thrive. I will support strengthened services for students with IEPs and 504s, ensure robust professional development, and create smooth grade-to-grade transitions. I’ll also advocate for an enriched Gifted & Talented program. All students should be appropriately challenged to reach their full potential.
Improving Community Relations – Strong schools are built on trust, transparency, and open communication. In my short time on the board, I served on the Community Relations Sub-Committee and initiated adding Google Analytics to the school website, helping better gauge community interest. I will expand methods of channels between the Board, administration, and families so voices are heard.
